My works are characterized by a unique fusion of realism and abstraction. Animal motifs depicted with astonishing accuracy are set against flowing, abstract backgrounds that give each work a dreamlike quality. This exotic bird lives in Africa and Europe! In winter it migrates to Africa and in summer it returns to southern Europe. For around 30 years now, this wonderful bird has lived again on the Kaiserstuhl (my home). Its colors make it a perfect painting subject. But it is also a special bird that people like to see. The bee-eater (Merops apiaster) is one of the most colorful birds in Europe. This work of art is a tribute to this species of bird. The bird is painted in a realistic style on a previously poured abstract pouring background in acrylic paints.
