Sylvia Vandermeer

Sylvia Vandermeer, born in 1968 in Zeitz, is a painter who lives and works on Rügen. Her paintings are evidence of an intensive engagement with traditional painting techniques. During her studies with Daniel Friedemann Fuchs under the direction of Prof. Ernst Fuchs in Vienna and later during her study trips to Rome, Florence and Venice, she specialized in the glazing techniques of the Renaissance with egg tempera and oil. The pigments used make the colors in her paintings shine. The viewer experiences an optical effect that conveys depth and atmosphere and is drawn into a magical space. Vandermeer's paintings are represented in international collections and are presented by the STP gallery in Greifswald at major art fairs such as Art Basel and Art Karlsruhe and in international exhibitions.
