Olivia Alexander is an experienced artist with nine years of intensive art training and specialises in contemporary mixed media art. Inspired by the oceans, coastal landscapes and estuaries of Australia, she brings the shimmering play of the seas and rivers to life in her works. Infused with 23-carat gold or silver leaf, polished shells and ochre pigments from the Australian coast, her vibrant paintings capture the graceful movement and fragile ecosystems of the sea. Olivia has over 40 years of creativity behind her and has presented her work in over 75 exhibitions worldwide since 2002. She has received numerous international awards, including bronze, pewter and silver medals from the Paris Société Académique des ARTS, SCIENCES & LETTRES (2012-2022). Her art, developed in her studio on Queensland's Gold Coast, celebrates the stunning beauty of the oceans through complex mixed media techniques.

Olivia Alexander's works are a ‘story’ about the coastal landscape, taking the viewer on a walk beside the ocean. The work begins with sketching on site, naturally formed textures, shapes and patterns are what she looks for in the landscape.
These are used to develop compositions and collages in sketchbooks.
Olivia has created several of her own unique, signature techniques, one consisting of multiple layers of mixed media, combined with gold and silver leaf.
She works with various mixed media including inks, acrylics, watercolors, pastels and ground natural pigments, shell and ochres collected from the shores of the Australian coastlines.
Olivia can work in several styles from coastal landscapes to vibrant abstract expressive paintings.
