Manfred Makra, born in Graz in 1956, is an outstanding artist whose creative journey began at a young age. At just 19 years old, he opened his first studio in his hometown of Graz. This early phase of his career was significantly shaped by the influences of his most important teachers: Antonio Calderara and Prof. Raimer Jochims. Both mentors had a decisive influence on his artistic development and gave him valuable insights and techniques.

Makra's work is deeply rooted in the diversity of artistic movements. Particularly notable are the influences of Japanese Zen Buddhism, which encourage calm and meditation in his art. American color field painting, known for its large-scale color compositions, has also had a lasting impact on his work. Another important aspect of his art is icon painting, the spiritual and symbolic dimensions of which can be seen in many of his works.

Today, Manfred Makra lives and works in Vienna. His art, characterized by a unique blend of Eastern and Western influences, radiates a timeless beauty and depth that never ceases to captivate viewers.
