Anja Semling

Anja Semling about herself: I learned a lot of artistic techniques during my graphic design studies and then autodidactically. I am familiar with many techniques: graphically with a drawing pen, drawing with pencil/colored pencil, with pen and ink, spatula, painting with a brush, as well as fluid art (= pouring) or also called acrylic fluid painting, which I do professionally.

The result of pouring (pictured left) is a dynamic expressionistic form of acrylic painting in which you don't paint but rather the colors flow and then slowly dry. A liquid pourable consistency prepared by me is poured onto the painting surface. The creation of small and large cells results in a very special color structure of the picture. After the surface has dried, I paint realistic animal motifs over it. This style of painting and art is very rarely represented, I am one of the very few artists who distinguishes myself by this.

Nevertheless, I still paint in other techniques or styles, as I have a wide-ranging portfolio. I paint in series! They are mainly living creatures, such as people (portraits) and wild animals. Of course, I also accept commissioned work with a desired motif.

Animals were and are symbolic protagonists in the visual arts! With my expressive animal paintings, I want to draw more attention to our wonderful animal world! Without them, our creation would be worthless. My works are characterized by a unique fusion of realism and abstraction. Animal motifs depicted with astonishing precision are set against flowing, abstract backgrounds that give each work a dreamlike quality.
