Alex Spielmann's creative work is an intuitive process that focuses on the interplay of control and chance. She works with mixed techniques in which she combines materials such as acrylic paints, pigments, structural pastes and sand. These diverse elements enable her to create multi-layered textures and surface structures that give her works a special depth and expressiveness.

The process of creating her works often begins with the application of the structural paste, which serves as the basis for the later composition. The repeated layering of colors and materials as well as targeted reworking results in works that appear both spontaneous and well thought out. Alex is guided by the dynamics of the material - cracks, lines and gradients are not just random details, but actively contribute to the narrative of the picture.

Color plays a central role in her work: it acts as a carrier of emotions and at the same time creates a dialogue between light and shadow. With contrasts and color gradients, she creates spaces that oscillate between abstraction and association and offer the viewer space for their own interpretations.

While Alex used to work on wood, she now prefers canvas as a painting surface. This change opens up new possibilities for her in dealing with structure and color, as the flexibility of the canvas allows for different effects. She uses a variety of tools to create her works, such as spatulas, brushes, sponges, and even unconventional aids. This creates unique structures and shapes that make each of her works unique.
